Hi everyone, I'm just a student not a teacher of Pilates but I'm having trouble learning the anatomy side of things. I have the 'Anatomy colouring book' as well' Anatomy for movement' plus one of two other books. Trouble is I don't feel like I'm really able to remember what I read or colour.

Can anyone recommend a particular Anatomy book where you're constantly tested and have to recall what you have read and learnt at the end of each chapter? I feel I would learn much better that way.

Thanks

I recommend Trail Guide to the Body (not sure who wrote it) or Anatomy of Movement (Blandine Calais-Germain). Both are pretty user-friendly.

I found a deck of flash cards really helped when I wanted to test myself.

Yes I have Anatomy of movement by Blandine. Meant to write that in my first comment not Anatomy 'for' Movement. Trouble with that book is that I just don't feel it sinks in enough when I read it.

How does Trail guide to the body differ from other Anatomy books?

Those cards sound like a good idea. I definetly learn better through testing.

I second the TRAIL GUIDE by Andrew Beil. I've only looked at a few books and this was the one I used to first learn anatomy, but it differs in that it is written for massage therapy/palpating. What helped me the most--the excellent DVD that shows each movement on a real person with drawings of the muscle overlaid.
