May 6 is Pilates Day!Pilates Connections is participating with eight other Pilates studios around Austin to promote a special day of Pilates activities on Saturday, May 6.Now in its third year, Pilates Day is an international event with Pilates studios in over 100 cities participating worldwide, with an intention to (1) unite the global Pilates community, (2) expand an awareness of the mission of the Pilates Method Alliance to maintain high standards for Pilates professionals, and (3) and support the PMA in its outreach endeavors, such as its pilot programs to place Pilates in public schools. Our intention for Pilates Day Austin is not only to promote Pilates and the PMA, but equally important, to strengthen and expand an awareness and appreciation of the work we are doing here in Austin – in essence, to strengthen ties among teachers and studios within our own Austin Pilates community. Pilates Day Austin will consist of two “events.” The first event will take place at Boggy Creek Farm from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The second event is the city-wide "Free Day of Pilates," which will commence at 1:00 p.m., with participating studios offering their own schedule of classes, workshops and/or demonstrations. The Pilates Day Austin web site describes the activities and provides a map to the various studios participating. Group Class ScheduleAs of now, all MatPlus classes are open level (requiring some Pilates experience), and you may attend without pre-registration or reservation. All beginning-level classes require pre-enrollment and commitment to a fixed schedule.
