I used to do Pilates and I was really enjoying it. But the coach asked me to act as "dead shoulders", although I was falling my shoulders down but I suppose he meant something else. He got angry and asked me to do it again but I did not really understand what to do, it's been a few weeks that I haven't done Pilates since then. Does anyone know how I should perform this "dead shoulder" thing? Thanks.

It's hard to know what the coach means without more information. In general, you don't want your shoulders heaved up toward your ears. So, my guess is that "dead shoulders" means to relax the shoulders without holding them in a shrugged, elevated position. But if you do that in an exaggerated way by allowing your shoulders to collapse, then that could account for the coaches reaction.
