I think any postal service store can do the packaging. They would need to see the Reformer, though, before they could supply a price for the custom packaging. They would arrange for the freight carrier.
call the pilatestech.com guy, Jeremy Moorehead, he has a recommendation for who to
You cant ship it postal, TOm, it has to be freight.
BUT---I ship ALL OVER THE WORLD and here is what I suggest.
you yourself put cut cardboard around the entire frame and shrink wrap the cardboard to the frame. the carriage should be shrink wrapped or bubble wrapped to protect the upolstery.
the carriage goes either in the bottom of the crate or turned upside down over
the frame, headrest down. depending what manufacturer you take off the ropes and risers or wrap the straps around the frame or carriage. put the footbar down inside the frame and tape the edges to the frame.
a crate can be built with plywood....costs about $100 in materials and $150 in labor if you have to hire someone. other options are calling studios or manufacturers and
see if any machines have been or are going to be delivered so you can reuse their
crates. most companies are using heavy cardboard now with industrial staples.
packed, a reformer is about 200 lbs. it doesnt need a pallet which makes it heavier.
it can be put on a flat dolly and rolled or just tilted on or off a truck.
get competitive bids. rates vary greatly. sometimes we take it to the shipper to
save the cost of them charging to pick it up. when it's delivered there is a rate
of a curbside delivery or a two man inside delivery, take the curbside and either
offer the driver some cash to carry it in or get a friend.
call if you need more help. Just shipped a 28 ft load of Gratz across AMerica we
packed ourselves and a container to the UK we tied down ourselves. Find a real man
with straps and tools. it's a job, but not brain surgery.
