Oh, I don't know about that, Tao. It works the posterior chain just fine when the right exercises are done. A good chair session will remind me of my 'posterior chain' for days afterwards.

Carole posted a great article on Dr Siff and Pilates,and essentially I see things his way.
None the less,I love Pilates and think it is probably the single best method of physical conditioning.

I'm all for varied exercise, but it wasn't until I found Pilates that I really got results, so I pretty much stick with it. It's kind of funny, we were doing the Swakates (sp??) series yesterday, and Pam noted, sarcastically "Oh, no, there's no arm work in Pilates". It's all in the exercises you do. If all you do is the basic mat series I'll agree, there isn't enough of much - but when you branch out, there's plenty.
